Denver Post reports a source close to Jason Giambi said he would retire as a player if he were offered the position.

The Rockies seem to be the only organization that's still holding on to that roided out *******. I have no idea why.

In this article, says that the Rockies want to limit what the manager does. States the reason for Tracy leaving was that he didn't want to just run the game.

I don't understand what that means. Isn't it the manager's job to run the team, even beyond what happens during nine innings of play? I thought he was supposed to oversee the day-to-day operations of the team itself, whereas the GM oversaw the day-to-day operations of the both the team and other facets of the organization.
