Nice to see one of the crappy AL central "leaders" can actually beat an inferior team when it counts.

Well, not really nice, but you know what I mean.

3 hits for the Tigers and 3 errors for the Royals, all in one inning, and it's only 2-0? Maybe the Tigers can out-Sox the Sox here.

Kansas City has committed four errors the first two innings. Fittingly, the Tigers lead 4-0.

You can't ask other teams to do your work for you.

So that's how you win a division.

Looks like Detroit is beating the garbage teams when they have to. The Sox gave them the chance and the appear to be taking advantage of it.

Can we start a Sox elimination number thread and see if it has the same jinx effect as the magic number thread?

FWIW, the elimination number will be six after Fister finishes off the Royals today.

He has a one-hitter through seven, and he's only thrown 82 pitches.

Royals open the eighth with back-to-back doubles. It's 4-1 Tigers.

Kansas City adds another run. It's 4-2. Tying run at the plate with two outs in the eighth.

A passed ball and an RBI single by Tony Abreu produces a third KC run. Tigers leading 4-3, still top 8. Abreu at first, two down, Gordon due up.
