Scary stuff. I hope Brandon makes a full recovery.

This isn't funny. Still have a soft spot in my heart for Brandon. Cubs Mitch Williams being hit in the ear and pitching again 3 days later because his ear cushioned the blow was funny.

Let's make fun of a guy that just suffered a significant brain injury. Strong work.

Glad to hear the surgery appears to be a success. I hope Brandon makes a rapid and complete recovery.

In Dump's defense, that information was not available until a post 30 minutes after he made his post. Up to that moment it looked like Brandon got really lucky. It isn't or wasn't contained in the article when I posted it this afternoon.

I was afraid of the brain bleed when I saw that, that was a vicious line shot. They were immediately on top of it, so fingers crossed that the damage was minimized by prompt surgery and that recovery will be complete.

When they juiced up the ball to increase HR totals they also made the pitching mound a very dangerous place to make a living, seems like its an epidemic right now with pitchers getting nailed.

Makes one wonder if MLB will make helmets mandatory for pitchers soon. Hope he will be just fine

Weird how that trade has come full circle and now BMac (yes I said it), is the guy you'd rather have now that the contract Danks has is absurd.
Glad you're not our GM.

I don't think you mean the trade has "come full circle." Although I don't agree that it's done a 180 either.

Maple bats? Another reason to ban them.

They break easily and then are like a high speed stiletto with the potential to cause great harm. I guess hitters like them because they think they'll be quicker in the hitting zone. It seems like everyone uses them. The Nellie Fox bottle bat and the big stick that Dick Allen used are gone.

Not one team would take Danks for a bag of balls right now with that horrible contract and his health. I'm not sure why you are arguing my point.

Seriously, how can anyone defend Danks right now?

Well given he was pitching hurt this season and has been excellent in years past, I can't understand why anyone is willing to pass judgment on him at this time. If his injury ends up being career threatening, then the insurance will pay the contract anyway, if not, then hopefully he comes back next year and pitches like he has in years past and everything is fine. Guess we'll find out...
