Well, with the way they are playing, no, the wild card isn't likely to come out of the Central.

If both teams get hot, it's still possible. Sox are three back of Baltimore; Detroit is four back.

Also Steve Stone said yesterday on Chicago Tribune Live! that the wild cards will not be coming out of the Central for what it's worth.

Detroit leads Cleveland 7-1 in the eighth tonight. Honestly, two out of three was more than you could ask from the woeful Tribe.

The Sox picked up a game over the last three days, so that's a good thing. Detroit starts a 10-game trip Friday in Anaheim. Here are the pitching matchups for that series:

Friday: Scherzer vs. Santana
Saturday: Verlander vs. Weaver
Sunday: Sanchez vs. Wilson

Friday favors the Tigers. Saturday is a matchup between two of the league's best. Sunday favors the Angels.

I saw an article where Weaver was going to have his arm examined. Let's hope he's healthy and pitches well that game.

I think the biggest thing is Detroit is only 30-35 on the road. A 10 game roadie could really help the Sox if they can help themselves.

If Weaver doesn't go, apparently Scioscia will start Wilson Saturday and Greinke Sunday. At least the Tigers will have to face two front-end starters either way.

Angels offense has also been firing on all cylinders lately. They just went in to the Oakland Coliseum and swept a pretty good A's team.

Looks like Weaver is sitting out with tendinitis.
Angels going with Santana,Wilson and Greinke.

This could be a break for the Sox....Weaver has been struggling a bit lately,while the other three have been good. In his last ten starts Weaver has a 4.24 ERA and has only 5 quality starts.

If this second half Scherzer is the real Scherzer going forward, Verlander/Scherzer combo is bad news for the Sox in the future.
