I know a lot of us into the prospect side loved this pick, and figured the Sox had a plan to get him back on track. Also says he wants to sign immediately
Body-builder muscles aren't the same as baseball muscles. Also extra bulk will interfere with flexibility, that probably isn't a good thing for pitchers.

I was thinking the same thing when I read that. Pitchers and Quarterbacks are taught to build long, lean muscles for velocity. They are never taught to bulk up. I don't know who was preaching this to him, it is so insane. When pitchers add 30 pounds of muscle, it should be 1/2 in their legs. Hitters bulk up, Pitchers get longer/leaner.

The Cubs just drafted Dale Sveum's kid. 5' 10'', 140, clocked at 71 mph from third base.

Glad to see the Chicago tradition of drafting an unqualified family member has moved to the North Side.

Archie Graham: Right.

28 other teams do the same thing.

Doesn't make it any less comical to me when it happens. Of course it stops being funny when teams actually give the family members contracts and playing time.

At the end of the day, I think the White Sox did all right for themselves. How this draft is viewed will obviously depend on Hawkins' development, but I think some of those pitchers could surprise people.

And when they do it in the 6th round vs. the 36th round.

Yep. The Cardinals drafted Matheny's kid today as well.

I would assume the savings they're trying to get from rounds 6-10 are aimed more at their earlier picks.
In the Jays case you are correct. The Astros are a better for my example. It's why they grabbed Hunter Virant in the 11th.
