Who will end up with the number 1 pick for the 2011 draft ?
Will it be Houston, Baltimore or the White Sox ? |

Depends on who goes into fire sale mode first I guess?

![]() The other two teams have a much lower level of talent than we do. Ours has not played any better than theirs, but we at least have a higher talent level. I'll guess Baltimore. Markakis, Wieters, Jones ,Matusz and maybe a few others are salvageable, but they have Atkins, Izturis, Patterson and a ton of other crap around there. Also they have the toughest schedule in baseball.

I don't see the Sox as bad as Houston or Baltimore. I think we end up picking in the 6 to 10 range.

I'm more interested in who will BE the no. 1 pick. Is Bryce Harper pretty much the consensus? Would the Sox take him with the no. 1?

As of now the likely #1 pick in the 2011 draft is Rice 3B Anthony Rendon. Last edited by DirtySox; 05-21-2010 at 10:38 AM. |

I do think that it will be between Baltimore and the White Sox depending on how many players the Sox dump.
Baltimore has a lot of good young talent so I don't see much decline in their play but, as it's been, said they play in the toughest division. Regardless, it's very likely that the Sox draft in the top 3 so there should be no more excuses about draft position for their lousy drafting. |

The Sox will NEVER get a no. 1 overall pick, all long as there are teams like the Nats, Royals, Pirates, etc. out there. This team is bad, but not THAT BAD. The best the Sox can hope for 6-10 just like DirtySox stated.

You may be right that the Sox don't get a real high pick because Kenny is so stubborn that he probably won't trade anyone on the Major League roster.
I'm starting to believe that it will be July 15th and he won't have traded anyone, the Sox will be in 3rd place and 12 games out, and KW will trade Hudson, Morel, Shelby and Viciedo for Adrian Gonzalez. Then, the Sox will finish in 3rd place 13 games out. |

The way the team is playing, top 10 at least.
I really wish Mitchell hadn't hurt himself. Our system wouldn't look SO bad then. I mean it would still be bad but it's downright putrid right now. I feel like I'm back in 2005 when BA and B-Mac were all we had to look forward to. I know Kenny is always trying to win but I wonder if one reason he's stuck with this roster so long is because he knows that this team probably won't even make it IF they get into the playoffs and he's already looking to the future. I'm probably wrong.

We're not finishing last in the entire MLB, not even in our division. We'll probably end up a little under .500. You have to factor in Alexei and Gavin snapping out of their usual early season struggles, and hopefully Peavy turning it around as well. If Quentin and Beckham turn it around as well we could even end up a few games over .500 as well.

If the team stays largely in tact we'll pick 11-15. If we deal Konerko and some pen pieces, probably in the 7-10 range.
