Rookie: 4 hr 17 rbi 9 sb .300 ave
A: 11 hr 93 rbi 21 sb .266 ave
A Adv: 15 hr 75 rbi 19 sb .270 ave
AA-AAA: 18 hr 57 rbi 22 sb .341 ave

Morel:

Rook & A: 6 hr 27 rbi 12 sb .318 ave
A Adv: 16 hr 79 rbi 25 sb .281 ave

BTW... that top 3B minor league numbers are: DAVID WRIGHT!

I tried to look up scouting reports on Wright, but could only find current reports, not the ones that were out when he was drafted #28 in round 1 for the Mets.

I like Morel quite a bit. He had a fantastic second half, but it's not fair to compare him to David Wright. Wright was a high school kid who was young for his league all the way up. By the time he was Morel's age, he was in the majors. Apples and oranges.

Yes it's very optimistic, however, if the numbers are comparable at the same levels, then it's fair to compare. If you look at the A Adv numbers, it was Wrights 3rd year in the majors and Morels 2nd year.

I have not seen Morel play in person and I've never seen Wright play at the minor league level... But there aren't that many players that hit 16 hr and steal 25 bases as a 3B!

David Wright's stat's from the AFL in 2003:

.341/.427/.489 with two HRs and seven doubles in 88 ABs. He walked more often than he struck out (10-13 K/BB ratio). But he was also only 20 yrs old at the time whereas Morel is 22. Seems like a small difference in age but means a lot more to scouts when a player dominates a level at a younger age. I think Wright is a stretch comparison but we can hope!!! If he does turn out to be that lets hope we hold onto him.

Edit: Also, just noticed that Morel led the league in hitting and Danks led in Runs. Pretty cool!!

BTW, I'm not saying that Morel is going to be as good as David Wright. But, by comparing his stats and the similiarities that they have in the minors so far, I think Morel has a chance to be a pretty darn good player. Wright puts up some of the best stats at his position in all of baseball. It would be hard for anyone to match. HOWEVER, if he hits 5 less HR and 20 less RBI's, but matches his high average and SB, he'd probably be an exceptional MLB player!

Who would be dissapointed with 15 HR, 80 RBI, 25 SB, .280-.300 AVE from our 3B position, with above average defense????

Wright put up those numbers coming out of high school; Morel had 3 years of college. I like Morel a lot, but he isn't a David Wright by a mile.

Come to think of it, the person I would compare him to at this point in Morel's development is...Joe Crede. I think Morel will be a better hitter and faster on the basepaths but with a little less power than Crede.
