At least this time its the relative of a borderline HOFer. I'll take a chance on a Harold Baines offspring in the 45th round any day.

They took Kenny Williams other son in the 43rd round I think, and also a few others of people who work in the Sox organization. I can live with that though, taking Kenny Williams JR. in the 6th rd was just plain stupid last year.

Please tell me that you're not bitching about a tall, strong lefty that throws 99mph...please?

I mean, when it comes down to it, if you had your choice over a tall, strong, 99 mph lefty who doesn't have good breaking pitches, who has a lot of talent, but whom almost as many people project will end up a Matt Thorton esque very good reliever vs a reliable starter ORRRRRR a younger, more talented pitcher who is more of a pitcher than a thrower, who has an arsenal of effective and deep pitches, and who was rushed to the bigs ahead of schedule and is not failing right now, the choice would be really easy.

We don't have Porcello, it's time to move on. It's ridiculous to ignore the talent Poreda possesses because of it.

And let's keep in mind that both of their careers have just (JUST) started. Give it some time, who knows what will happen.

Raw talent is there, but he is going to need a TON of work. He certainly isn't going to be in a WhiteSox uniform for quite some time, but that is to be expected for all prospects not named Gordon.

Agreed. He was hitting seventh and playing rf in last night's game. He's had too much time devoted to football so far. Excited to see how he develops concentrating full time on baseball.

Assuming he signs relatively soon after the CWS ends, I hope the Sox put him in Bristol and keep him there the rest of the season, no matter how well or poorly he does. Mitchell is not ready for Kanny yet, and Great Falls in the Pioneer Leauge is a homer-happy place. For now he needs to concentrate on learning how to be a small ball type player, and I think the Appy League is much more conducive to that.
In fact, I think you could say the same for Trayce Thompson, even if it means one of them has to move to left or right for the year. These two are going to have to be brought along very carefully, and the Sox do not have a great track record of doing that.

Phegley, Morgado, and Bellamy will begin their seasons in Great Falls. Mitchell is likely to join them there as well.
