Beckham finished 1-4, 2 walks.
Oh, and Josh Fields sucks. What an awful year that guy is having. |

He's already proven himself at that level. A bad (injury plagued) year does not mean he sucks.

That's a personal attack. Yes it is. Gonna get you banned. Not kidding. Kind of.

Shelby is putting up some nice numbers in AA. Can he actually play CF well?

Actually it's in High A with Winston-Salem. But yes, I'd be interested to see how he is defensively. Isn't he another one of those players that started in the infield and got moved to the OF?

Also of interest, Toma Ohka went yesterday for Charlotte and not Jack Egbert. If I have things straight, Egbert hasn't pitched since Monday and yesterday was his turn. We'll have to see if he starts today. If not, it would appear he's the guy vs. the Mariners Tuesday. Edit: he's listed as the probable starter for tonight's Charlotte game vs. Norfolk, so we'll see what plays out. |

Yep, he played 2B in college, but the Sox moved himto CF. According to Baseball America he had a bit of an adjustment period on getting good jumps and reads, but had the speed to make up for a lot of those mistakes. He doesn't have the greatest arm out there though...but his bat has been solid and I'm exciting to see if he can progress. He has nice pop in his bat and still hitting for decent avg.

Shelby was playing a lot of left and dh before they traded Paulo Orlando. They tried to move him back to 2b earlier this year, but he doesn't play the position that well and he doesn't hit when he's at 2b. It'll be interesting to see if he can stick in center because it's unlikely he'll hit enough to play an outfield corner. I wouldn't be surprised to see him traded over the winter. He's the sort of player KW has been trading lately.
