good to see rogo breaking out towards the end of this yr. maybe this will boost any trade value he might have and we can trade him for a minor league middle infielder or package him for a bigger deal. thats the only way were going to get use of him cuz he clearly isnt seeing anytime with us anytime soon.

Poreda is pitching well. Great line yesterday.

But don't overlook Henry Mabee, from Morehead St. He's had 14 appearances and has been scored on only once.

He has pitched 19.2 innings and given up just 7 hits, 1 ER, with 18 Ks, 6 BBs, and his ERA is 0.46. He has 7 saves and they are batting just .115 against him.

He's from the same school as Jon Rauch. In college, Mabee was a starter. He pitched 88 innnigs and gave up just one HR. His record was 5-4 with an ERA of 4.19. He had 82 Ks, 22 BBs. He actually had the best ERA on the team. He's from British Columbia.

What kind of game does he have? Is he a Gload clone or something?
The Sox do need a backup who can play first base.

He's not as good a hitter as Gload, and I'm not that big of a Ross fan. I don't think Rogowski has a future with the Sox, and backup first base is well down the list in terms of our needs anyway.

Rogowski had a terrible start this year, but he does deserve credit for digging himself out of the hole a bit. He was one of many, many hitters in this organization to have a very poor first two months.

Rogo was dropped from the 40-man this year, as were Gustavo Molina, Sean Tracey, and Pedros Lopez. Rogo was the only player not picked up. That should say something about his value.

MAYBE Rogo = Ross Gload as far as career path (ton of time in the minors before catching on as a MLB backup after a good ST) but he isn't the hitter Gload is as JB just noted. Rogo isn't a prospect and really is just depth for Charlotte right now. Actually if you look at our rosters for AA and AAA you aren't going to find many legitimate prospects. But of course we do have some, and the ones we do have are close, so that's good anyway I guess.

Dunno, but beware rookie ball stats, especially for hitters. They are generally meaningless.
