Default More Winter Meetings signings / trades...

Cubs just signed Drew Smyly to a two year deal. He'll miss the season after electing to have Tommy John.

Bryan Shaw signs with Rockies and Tommy Hunter signs with Phillies.

Michael Pineda signs with the Twins (will miss most of the season after Tommy John surgery)

Anthony Swarzak signs a two year deal with the Mets. 14 million.

Rats. I was hoping the Sox would bring him back.

Stanton gone. Ozuna gone. Rumor is Yelich is next.

Baseball business 2017 - catch the fever.

So that takes St. Louis out of the running for Garcia, leaving the A's and maybe the Giants left.

Ozuna is a real good consolation prize for the Cardinals. He's not Stanton, but he can easily give you ~40 home runs. They could make things interesting next year.
Sandy Alacantara might have some upside, but a lot depends on him harnessing that stuff. It is debatable if Sierra can hit well enough to start, or if Gallen is going to be anything more than a back end starter though. It is too early to judge, but on the surface, these returns really make Hahn look good.

Looking at the return for Ozuna and comparing it to what the Sox got back for Eaton, seems to be a pretty impressive job by Hahn.

It was an impressive haul for Eaton. So good that I can't think of a reason to stop trading veterans.
But EAton is a much more productive player than Ozuna, and was signed for 5 years, v. 2.
Yellich would be a good comparison.

JD Martinez to Boston. 5 years and $110 million is what I'm hearing.

Edit: wrong thread, please move
