Default White Sox rotation set by Ventura

Well, this according to a 1-sentence Facebook wall post so take with a grain of salt, but at least these are your 5 guys...
  1. Chris Sale
  2. Felipe Paulino
  3. Jose Quintana
  4. Erik Johnson
  5. John Danks

Per Scott Merkin and Bruce Levine, that is the order.

If the rotation stays this way and Danks stays healthy, this could be the year he wins 20.

I'm not sure that I see your logic. Is it because you think that he will be up against other teams fifth starters? You do know that only lasts about once or twice around the rotation. Teams have different off-days and rain-outs, and some teams skip their fifth starter when they have days off.

Alternating lefties and righties seems to be the name of the game here. I'd imagine Rienzo would be first in line if Paulino flames out.

That's my logic. And I'll be the first to admit that it's flawed, but it's that time of year.

Oh Boy.... This is an average starting rotation that has the possibility to turn into a disaster really quickly.

Team's coming off a 99-loss season, what were people expecting?

I'm HOPING for a ~.500 season, but I'm not optimistic. I think we are headed in the right direction, and Coop can practically work miracles with pitchers.

I guess we'll see.

From $118 million, old, and bad to $81 million, younger, and not as bad. 2015 they have $56.5 mil committed if they pick up all options.

Can't be anything but happy with where they are at compared to last year.

Paulino #2?!? Oh man

Hmm...i guess that's just the order they are starting the season. Doesn't really make Paulino the #2 or Danks the #5 in my book. To me the #5 is the guy you skip in the order when you can. I'd hope Paulino is that guy. I was really looking for him to get bumped to long relief. Hopefully, he's just holding Reinzo's or Beck's spot while they get a couple months work in at AAA.

Well, I would say Quintana is clearly the No. 2 starter. They are just ordering them this way for whatever purpose, matchups or what have you.

I really doubt they are going to skip anybody. I think all five guys will take their turn.

Unfortunately, it is a little early to proclaim that we "are not as bad" as last year though I do hope you are right.

Scary rotation but sometimes things work out.

FWIW, here's the rotation the Sox started last year with:

1) Sale
2) Peavy
3) Floyd
4) Quintana
5) Axelrod

So yeah, this is a move in the right direction. Plus you have real SP prospects in the minors like Reinzo, Beck, Surkamp, and Bassitt, as opposed to last season when your SP depth in Charlotte included guys like Zach Stewart and Jason Berken.
