J. Quintana:
As RP-----7ip, 1H, 0.43WHIP, 0.00ERA As SP-----3.97ERA, 1.40WHIP, 129IP/143H, 4.31era in innings 1-6, 0.00ERA in innings 7-9. Innings 1-6 opponents hit .312 off Quintana. H. Santiago: As RP-----3.88ERA, 51IP, 53K As SP----- 1.86ERA, 19IP, 26K, 3.01ERA in innings 1-6, 2.95era in innings 7-9. After hitters have faced him 3 times in a game 0.179BAA I'm hoping H. Santiago can win the job, I like his stuff (I like Quintana as well) Eventually both will be #4 and #5. 93MPH FB top 97MPH 83MPH CHG 79MPH SLD 74MPH SCR Thoughts?

If and when they are 4 and 5, with Sale and Danks, 4 lefties is not my cup of tea.

This reminds of the "need" of having a second lefty in the pen just for the sake of having him even if he can't get LH hitters out.

Great point! I never understood people saying "oh we need a lefty specialist..." oh ya why? He gives up a .330 clip to lefties haha 4 Lefty starters are not bad, Imagine when Peavy hangs it up 5 lefties! :-) Snodgress Danks Sale Quintana Santiago :-) |

With baseball the way it is, the possibility of any team filling out its rotation in a few years solely from within is really slim.

It is Quintana's job to lose going into camp. I heard Coop say that on MLB Network Radio the other day.

If Santiago can avoid giving up the longball I like his potential, but as of right now I think Quintana put in too much good work for most of last season for it not to be his job to lose.

Small sample size, no? The guy came in for mop-up duties for a DH in Cleveland. So in reality, he has no bullpen experience. |

The perk (or drawback, depending on your POV) to being the best

Russ:
Agree with your post. Today you actually need six starters...not five. Lip |

He could easily say no when they ask him to do an interview.
