If no other trades are made and AJ walks, what would our lineup look like right now?
Here's what I see: DeAza............CF Keppinger.......3B Rios...............RF Dunn.............DH, 1B PK................1B, DH Tank.............LF TCM..............SS Flowers.........C Beckham.......2B Not bad but would be much better with another LH bat. If AJ comes back, put him 6th, Tank 7th, TCM 8th, Beckham 9th with Flowers back on the bench.

And although I don't expect the same output from Rios, Konerko was at right around his career average in OPS (.857 in 2012 to his .858 career), and Dunn was right around his career averages in HRs/RBIs (41/96 in 2012 to his 38/96 career averages). Hopefully Dunn can improve upon his OBP and OPS, while Konerko can keep doing much of the same. And as for Rios, if the team gets 90% of his production from last year, I'd probably be OK with that. As for the others... - De Aza needs to stay healthy and he'll be OK (although I'd rather have a true CF and worry about him staying healthy). - Keppinger can't be any worse than what we tossed out there at 3B majority of 2012. - Alexei needs to improve back (and closer) to his career averages. - Flowers... If he can produce 15-20 HRs and to have a solid defensive presence, I'll be OK with that spot - Tank/Beckham (I'll group them together) - this is where I'm looking to make up for some of AJ's absence/numbers. Beckham especially, as he's at that seemingly magic 26/27 age that has typically sparked careers. If the bullpen gets shored up a bit and Danks returns strong, we should again see a competitive team in 2013. I'm just not sure it's enough to top the Tigers, although I've seen crazier things happen in baseball (Oakland, 2012).

I'd go Dunn/PK/Rios, and until Tank can handle righthanded pitching, Alexei will be ahead of him in the lineup.
A little too quiet on the trade/FA front, with other teams that were looking at our guys signing and trading for others. Hopefully something shifts soon. I would not be happy with the lineup as it looks now. At worst, we need a platoon bat at C with Flowers. Also, as interest in A.J. cools, he's getting closer and closer to our price range. |

Wouldn't it be nice to see Adam Dunn moved to another team and then use some of that money to sign Josh Hamilton? I would much rather have Hamilton batting third than Dunn.

Personally, I think we should have a centerfielder.

It's probably still better than watching Rob Mackowiak out there.

Changed it, posted the thread this AM before the sun came up., but you know what, DeAza plays such a deep center field that we need a short centerfielder like in some softball games.

At this point, moving Dunn would be selling low on him so you're probably going to need to salt and pepper a lot of that remaining contract.

I'd call it more of a plateau than a low since I don't really see his value increasing ever from this point.

I'm thinking that ship has sailed, Nellie.
