Working on a deal to send him to Japan. I get that Rizzo makes him completely useless on an NL team, but I'm pretty surprised this is the best they could do. Not one team takes a chance on him?

Does this make him at least in the running for worst All-Star selection ever?

If you ask me, he already was in the running.

Wasn't he named by the players and not by the fans? There have been a couple of bad All Star selections. Garciaparra was named one year after playing something like seven games. There was another player who was a utility guy and just happened to be in attendance to the game when one of the starters got hurt and he was named at the last minute. Plus, Lahair had a pretty good first half.

Yes, but Garciaparra was a borderline great player. Hell, in 2003 it looked like he was well on his way to Cooperstown.

Worst All-Star ever has to be Jason Varitek in 2008
