Solid, solid move. Haren may not be what he used to be but I do this move 11 times out of 10.

Multiple sources on both sides of deal tell me that Marmol/Haren trade is not done.Discussions are progressing. Financials being worked out. |

Both washed up IMO.
Haren made Mark Buehrle's Fastball look fast last season. Haren might be the softest throwing RH in the game since Livan Hernandez. |

Yeah, but getting a number 3 starter who can still deal for a overpriced relief pitcher is a great deal.

The fact that they got a serviceable starter for Marmol is a substantial improvement to their roster.

Probably a decent gamble. Marmol is useless on a team that will probably lose more than a 100 games next year, but they have money to burn and if Haren can overcome the arm troubles he's better than Dumpster and Maholm and they did/could've brought a lot better prospects than expected. They eat the cash to hope they can flip him for something better than Marmol could bring at the deadline.

With Haren's velocity it will be interesting to see just how "serviceable" he can be in that band box.

I have a friend who's thinking they'll re-sign Haren and make the Wild Catd game. Lot more to be done about the club though. Who thinks he'll be traded at the deadline?

It really doesn't. What do the rebuilding Cubs want with a declining veteran and what does LA want with a ****ty reliever?

The Cubs can sign that declining veteran on their own now!
