Default Trib beat writer swap?

Reading the Tribune mobile site this morning, I noticed Paul Sullivan wrote a story on the Williams-Hahn transition/double promotion. Curiously, Gonzo was credited with writing a story on a Cubs prospect. Has anyone heard if Sully and Gonzo have swapped beats?

Did anyone notice at the end of the season that Bruce Levine & Doug Padilla switched Cubs/Sox beatwriter roles for ESPNchicago.com and ESPN Radio? Probably because Sox September games were more "meaningful" and Levine had more clout to get better interviews.

Doug has been on the Cubs beat all year ever since February.

Gosh I sure hope not. I didnt like sullivan when he was on the Sox beat. And since he went to the cubs he has become a cub cheerleader. Gonzo is a down the middle writer, not a fan boy.

How long has it been since they regularly swapped at ASG time every year?

I'm pretty sure Gonzo has been hanging around in Arizona for the Fall League, which that prospect is taking part in.

Maybe it was just a one-time story swap, then.

Gonzo is in Arizona covering the fall league. The Sox making the announcement when they did meant he was out of the loop as far as covering it.

Just bad timing.

It is unusual though that the Sox were able to do this yesterday with announcements of this sort supposedly embargoed during the World Series...Bud must have given permission.

To me the bigger question is why since the season ended has Gonzo not been on Chicago Tribune Live! talking about the Sox?

They do talk about the club (occasionally...) but it's never been with Gonzo since the season ended.

You'd think the guy who covers the team on a daily basis would be asked to participate.

Lip
