That reminds me that I knew there was no way the Cubs were going to win the World Series in 2008, the year of all the centennial hoopla, because I knew there was no way the fates would allow World Series rings for both the White Sox and Cubs to fall into the hands of Neal Cotts.

Back when Adkins was pitching for the Sox, I was frequently able to impress my wife by saying, "Hey, wanna see someone hit a home run?"

Jon rarely disappointed.

Cotts earned his ring in 2005, pitching in all four WS games, winning one. I don't know what the hell happened to him afterwards though.
