How is the order of the compensation round determined?

Determined by Elias Ranking.

As of right now, the smart money would be on the Sox selecting a signable college pitcher. Shocking, no?
I'd bet it will be one of the following: -Asher Wojciechowski -Brandon Workman -Barret Loux -Alex Wimmers |

I think getting McGuire would be nice if he's still available, but after that I would probably prefer Wimmers or Workman. In my opinion, Asher W projects as a reliever.

I'm not the biggest fan of Workman. His mechanics and delivery are all over the place and there are repeatability issues. He does have a very nice curveball though. I don't think his upside is considerably higher than Wimmers, who I think is underrated. Wimmers has two secondary pitches described as plus, and a fastball that sits in the 90-93 range with good movement. |

So does that mean Elias had Valverde as the highest ranked FA (relative to his position), Scutaro 2nd...?

Essentially. I'm not entirely sure how things are sorted, but that is the gist of it. Maybe someone else can weigh in. Elias rankings are rather convoluted.

Kevin_Goldstein I've heard nothing but college arms. RT @mrausch86: @Kevin_Goldstein who do you see the ChiSox drafting? I have seen Brentz. |

Sweet! I love this day but don't want to wait until prime time.
I personally want to hear the future White Sox LF or RF "Bryce Brentz" called out but I know I am a minority.

Thats just a bonus for me. The Dynasty league did force me to do an early dive into this draft but I've been a fan of Brentz. I had him scouted out after his monster year in 2009. Last edited by 102605; 06-07-2010 at 10:06 AM. Reason: deep pink not teal |
