2014 is Beckham's last kick at the can with the White Sox. He's out of mulligans. If he's injured, bad, or some combination of injured and bad this year, he won't be here in 2015. The Sox have organizational depth at 2B. Gordon is going to find himself expendable if he doesn't get healthy and start producing.
I don't really see a scenario where Beckham is with the Sox after 2014- between Garcia, Semian and Micah Johnson- I think we're covered at 2nd base for 2015- they all need another year of development and I think Hahn was hopeful that Beckham could bring some trade value this year- which led to the one yer deal for Gordon.
I was still optimistic for Gordon to finally combine his defense with a solid season on offense (showed some positive signs around the injuries last year)- but he's looking pretty brittle and injury prone at this stage.
