Here's the problem with Danks, and it's a big one. There just isn't enough difference between his fastball and changeup. His location needs to be almost perfect in a game for him to succeed, and how often does any pitcher achieve that? His stuff isn't good enough to get away with bad pitches. It's not the recipe for consistent success.
That was the problem last year when he topped out at 88mph.
A 91 mph fastball followed by an 81 mph changeup is just fine.
