Yes, $4million is not a ton of money. But is still an unecessary scratch.
You start filling your roster with all these known (average/bad) commodities at $4 million per, and now you have $16 million wasted that could be paid to a star down the line, in July.
Just put a young inexpensive player in there.

I know it's a small sample size- but Beckham had a strong finish to 2012, a good spring training and start (before the April injury) and the 2 good months before starting to get banged up again- it looks to me that if he can stay healthy he may be turning the corner. I think he's worth one more shot- before giving up on him.
