The only question was whether the votes would be unanimous. I'm a little surprised Sale got a first place vote when he was only named on 20 ballots and he would have only been on six if the hadn't expanded the ballot from three to five places. I thought that if it wasn't unanimous, Darvish would have picked up at least one first-place vote. I read a recent column by someone wrote about why Iwakuma deserved the Cy Young Award, but apparently that wasn't written by someone with a vote.
It wasn't a surprise, though, that one writer put Wainwright first and Kershaw second, or that Kershaw and Scherzer were the only pitchers to be names on 30 ballots.
