Beckham is hardly horrible or one of the worst in the league, even with his average hitting abilities his defense saves a lot of runs. You can name on one hand the outstanding hitters at the position in the league.
I don't want to turn this into a discussion on whether Beckham is horrible, I don't think he is. But he didn't improve either, something people were adamant he would years after (and thousands of plate appearances after) it was obvious he wasn't that player.
