I'm about a week late with my follow up for my trip, but I want to give a hearty thank you to the WSI faithful for your advice. My trip was a great success.

We got there fairly late Friday night after driving from Central Illinois. Didn't do much but hit the bars near our hotel (we stayed at Springhill Suites - great advice BTW).

Saturday early we did the PNC Park tour. Beautiful park with a ton of heritage incorporated within. I have to agree it is one of the best parks I've been to.

Early afternoon we did some exploring on foot of the surrounding neighborhoods. We crossed the Clemente bridge into the heart of the city. Went and saw the Ft. Pitt blockhouse and the park nearby before heading up the Duquesne Incline into Mt. Washington. Did a little exploring before going back to the hotel to freshen up before the game.

Sunday we did the day game at PNC and then headed out to Church Brew Works for dinner. A very unique experience to say the least. Afterwords went to Southside and hit a number of bars along the way before calling it a night.

Monday we had one person to drop off at the airport before heading back to Illinois.

A few random thoughts.

Pittsburgh seems to have a very health Polish heritage. Perogies were plentiful anywhere we went and were in a variety of flavors. Also, any sandwich I seemed to order had slaw and fries topped on it.

The people were very friendly, especially at the park. There were actual ushers at PNC and they were not shy about making people wait at the concourse during an inning until there was a break in the action to return to their seats (This was pure heaven to an old timer like me.)

Likewise, the concession staff was well trained and professional in going about their business. I had an experience with a few patrons in front of me that insisted in causing a ruckus (they refused to show ID for a beer purchase) and the concessionaire politely but firmly told them to show ID or get out of line. Everywhere I went the stadium staff was cordial. I gave my ticket to the first park employee I say and they gave me accurate directions to my seat. Once there, the usher in charge of the section escorted me to my seat, wiped it down with a fresh towel and asked if there was anything else they could do for me. I have to say it was a pleasure to attend a game there.

Thanks again to WSI for the help. My trip was richer for your advice.
