I've been impressed with Manto, too.
IMO, Ventura will be back next year way before Manto is.
Our already-weak hitters are constantly overmatched within Manto's over-aggressive philosophy. You can't give the pitcher the count every at-bat and expect good results.
Had we improved in run-scoring and homers, then I'd say that move was at least worth a shot for a change of pace, but we haven't. So not only does his approach not work, it made us worse.
Before we bring in better hitters, we need a new hitting coach who doesn't preach swing-first and that taking walks are bad.
