Your opinion may fluctuate on him, but a scout's opinion won't.
A scout might say something like, "Inconsistent hitter. Can carry a team when he gets hot. Prone to long slumps."
That statement is 100 percent accurate regardless of whether Rios went 6-for-6 or 0-for-6 in his most recent game. Scouts know what he is. They aren't going to suddenly believe Rios is a .320 hitter based upon what he did last night, nor are they suddenly going to believe he sucks if he has a week where he goes 3-for-24.
