Personally, it'll be a devastating day for me when Hawk isn't our broadcaster anymore.
His passion and his sheer joy when the Sox are winning and his sheer agony when they are not strike a chord with me as I feel those emotions right along with him.
Do I think his old time stories and some of his thoughts on how to be successful in baseball are BS? Of course but it is entertaining BS.
That being said he should never be compared to Santo from a broadcasting side. All Santo offered for analysis was "yeah" and then he just rooted for the Cubs. Hawk roots for the White Sox but offers tons of analysis throughout the game and is perceptive to situations and other teams players. Its comparing apples to oranges and frankly an insult to Hawk to compare him to Santo.
When Mike Huff and Steve Stone were calling the games I could not watch. It was pitiful.
