They're not going to give in just because you have superior logic. Rules is rules and we're going to follow them even if they keep our best pitcher out of the game.

Every inning is as close to a save situation as you are going to get in extra innings at home, and there's no sense in keeping your best reliever on the pine if you're trying to win the game IMO.
