Birmingham is 15-1/2 games back in the second half, so Kuhn isn't going to help it win anything in the second half. I phrased it wrong I suppose. The Barons won the first half and thus are already in the playoffs. They wanted Kuhn and Phegley eligible for the playoff roster which is why they were demoted. Not sure on the dates that they would have to be back with Birmingham, but I'm just repeating what was fed to me. I'm okay with the demotion. Kuhn isn't really highly viewed by the organization anyhow. He projects as a utility guy by almost everyone.
