A team with a protected 1st round pick is more likely to kick the tires. I think a team would be willing to lose a 2nd round pick for a 2 to 3 years worth of AJ. Obviously much comes down to the individual's preference of money versus job security. Does AJ think he can go out and perform much better with a 1 year contract to try and get a bigger/longer deal next off-season? He isn't a slam dunk decision like Putz/PK, so it will be interesting to follow.
I agree with this; however, do you think AJ would be willing to risk playing for one of the pick-protected teams, rather than a contender? I get the sense that he'd be willing to come back here for a year and contend with the Twins rather than play for the Astros or somebody like that.
