by Joe Dick
Trib Reporter

Chicago's North-South Civil War continued today as the first place Cubs hooked up with the fifth place Sox in the second game of this three game set, played in front of yet another near-capacity crowd packing the South Side ballyard to the rafters. Today's duel featured a battle of lefthanders with Ken Holtzman of the Cubs bumping up against Tommy John of the White Sox.

Cubs, Sox inaugurate "interleague play" at Comiskey

CHICAGO-June, 1969

By Joe Dick
Trib Reporter

Chicago's two baseball titans today met at Comiskey for the first of a three game showdown to kick off "interleague play," a brand new concept introduced to baseball this year by the powers-that-be in an effort to increase attendance and take some of the spotlight away from Joe Namath and the boys on the gridiron.

1964 and 1969 APBA

Posted 06-27-2009 at 10:12 AM by TommyJohn (No!!Mary!!!)

My 1964 and 1969 seasons arrived in the mail today. Now I am whracking my brain

It's the All-Time "My Special Pain is Greater Than Yours" Series, starring two teams who inflicted heartbreak on both sides of town, the 1964 White Sox and the 1969 Cubs.

This series will have it all-the speedy hustle of Don Buford, timely hitting of Floyd Robinson, home run heroics of Ernie Banks and Billy Williams, pitching galore from Gary Peters, Joel Horlen, Hoyt Wilhelm, Fergie Jenkins and Kenny Holtzman. This mythical World Series between two of Chicago's "What...

The day of the first games of the All-Time White Sox series dawned bright, crisp and clear. There was an unmistakable buzz in the air, the kind that comes in October when postseason baseball comes to town. Four White Sox teams would meet in these semi-final best-of-seven series to determine which of them would earn the right to call itself the "Greatest White Sox team of All-Time." White Sox fans across ages and generations eagerly anticipated the games, many of which would see old Comiskey...
