The birth of the Chicago City Series coincided with the peace treaty brokered between the established National League and the brand-new, upstart American League. While the first place winners in each league (Boston and Pittsburgh) met in a "World Series" to settle the issue of who was the better team, owner Charles Comiskey of the White Sox challenged owner James Hart of the Cubs (then called the "Colts") to an informal best-of-15 series for "bragging rights."

I was listening to Dan McNeil on the radio the other day and he was listing players who played for both the Cubs and White Sox. I was only half interested because he went on about how the list contains about 200 or so names. Yes, it does. So it got me tp thinking about creative lists of Cubs-Sox players, the guys on the list who have a unique distinction about their careers.
