September was a lively month for Sox fans and the Trib. The team won their first seven games, then stumbled a bit while a super hot Cleveland Indians team that had been 15 games back on August 1st suddenly couldn't lose and started gaining ground. At one point, they closed the gap to 1.5 games during a gut-wrenching September series between them. By the way, I need to mention that Hitmen77 was my personal favorite "Cubune Headline" poster. Some of his headlines were not only laugh-out-loud funny, but very prescient. He wrote a few headlines that were eeriely close to headlines that appeared in the real Tribune a couple of days later. When I complimented him on it, he modestly deflected the praise by saying it was like "shooting fish in a barrel." I always liked to see a new post by him in that thread.
