In honor of actor Andy Garcia and his (unintentionally) hilarious reaction to Sofia (Mary Corleone) Coppola's death scene in "The Godfather, Part III."

June 30,1975
vs. Oakland A's
at White Sox Park

The Sox continue to stay hot. The 8-3 win over Fergie and the Rangers completed a three game sweep, and they took three more from the Royals to run their winning streak to 8 and allowed them to escape from the AL West cellar. Maybe these Sox had some grit and fight in them after all.

The A's came into town in 1st place riding an 8 game winning streak of their own. The matchup promised to be a good one-the improving...

June 26,1975
vs. Texas Rangers
at White Sox Park

The June 22 wins against the Twins kicked off a winning streak that reached four games going into this Thursday afternoon match vs. the Texas Rangers. Wilbur Wood, 4-10 with a 5.20 ERA at this point, went against Ferguson Jenkins, who was following up a 25-13 season in 1974 with a so-so 8-7 record. Still it promised to be a fun match up.

7,681 turned out on a nice day to see the game. The Sox kicked off the scoring...

June 22,1975
vs. Minnesota Twins
at White Sox Park

The first one was done to cut down John Allyn's large payroll. Stan Bahnsen aka "Stanley Struggle" was traded to the Oakland A's, who were in 1st place and looking to shore up their pitching in anticipation of another division title. In exchange...

June 14,1975
vs. New York Yankees
at Shea Stadium

By mid-June Deron Johnson wasn't making anybody forget about Dick Allen. The 36 year old veteran had a batting average hovering around the .220 mark. He did have a few moments, though. He delivered game-breaking or winning hits a couple of times. Not that it helped the team much. They were 24-33, 9 1/2 games back and resting in last place in the AL West. Attendance was also back to pre-Dick Allen levels as well.
