October 3,1976
vs. Texas Rangers
at Arlington Stadium

The 1976 White Sox go out the same way they came in-by shutout. Only this time, it was Veeck's Wrecks that were on the losing end, the 21st time in the season that they had been blanked.

Ranger hurler Len Barker, making only his second appearance in the majors, was the owner of the gem. He scattered only three hits and struck out six over the course of 9 innings to earn his first win.

September 25,1976
vs. Oakland A's
at Comiskey Park

August 24,1976
vs. Detroit Tigers
at Tiger Stadium

The 1976 White Sox were a dull team, save for the occasional near no-hitter, ten game winning streak, game-winning home run or combined no-hitter. The game against the Tigers on this night was another one of those times that the Sox reached deep inside themselves and produced a classic.

Ken Brett took the mound that for the Sox against Dave Roberts of the Tigers. The Sox gave Brett a 2-0 lead in the top...

"Too much of a good thing is simply wonderful"-Liberace

Well, maybe not, Lib. There are times when a good thing starts to run out of steam and overstays its welcome. Usually it happens by the third time around.

Movies are a perfectly good example of this. Look at some great movies that went one or more sequels too many. It is usually by the third installment that things go south. By...
