In honor of actor Andy Garcia and his (unintentionally) hilarious reaction to Sofia (Mary Corleone) Coppola's death scene in "The Godfather, Part III."

vs. Boston Red Sox
at Fenway Park

King Carlos does it again!

The Sox are treading within a few games of .500 (19-22) going into this Monday night contest in Beantown.

Boston takes a 4-0 lead off starter Joel Horlen; three of those runs are driven in on home runs by Carl Yastrzemski and Rico Petrocelli.

The Sox wait until the top of the 8th to do something about it. Tommy McCraw singles with two out and two on to make it 4-1. Two batters later a Luis Aparicio single drives another across and loads the bases for May.

At this point reliever Sparky Lyle comes in to face the left-handed hitting Carlos. Little good it did. Carlos steps into a Sparky pitch and sends one on a good long ride into the Fenway stands for a grand slam and a 6-4 lead.

Ace reliever Wilbur Wood makes sure that Carlos' dramatic drive is not in vain, holding off the Red Sox in the last two frames for the victory. Carlos' clout makes a winner of Cisco Carlos, 1967 rookie phenom turned 1969 mop-up reliever, who had come on for Horlen in the 7th.

The Sox go to 20-22, two games below mediocre. Carlos May, however, is showing himself to be anything but mediocre.
