In honor of actor Andy Garcia and his (unintentionally) hilarious reaction to Sofia (Mary Corleone) Coppola's death scene in "The Godfather, Part III."

vs. Washington Senators
at White Sox Park

Newbies shine on the Sox stage during this night's twi-night twinbill vs. the Senators, making new personnel director Roland Hemond look like a trading genius.

Game 1 sees Hemond acquisition Tom Bradley, he of the thin frame and Woody Allen glasses, fire major league heat at the Senators. Bradley scatters five hits and whiffs five in tossing his second complete game shutout of the year. The hurler ups his record to 4-1 and his ERA drops to an extremely stingy 1.27.

The win snaps a five game losing streak and is the Sox' first win at home since April 17 vs. Oakland, when Bradley K'd 10 A's en route to his first shutout of the year.

Carlos May goes 3-for-5 with two RBI; Lee Richard, Rick Reichardt and Rich McKinney contribute an RBI apiece in the 5-0 win.

Game 2 sees an offensive explosion from another Hemond player, Rick Reichardt. The outfielder goes 5-for-5 with a home run and 3 RBI. Overall for the night he is 7-for-10 with 4 RBI.

The Senators roughed up starter Bart Johnson and took a 5-1 lead by the 2nd. Reichardt's solo home run in the 4th got the scoring going and the Sox clawed back to win it 9-5.

The wins bring the Sox to 13-18, although they are still in last place and only 4-14 at home.

Also of note-Joel Horlen, who played in his first game on May 4, pitched the last 2.2 innings to get the save.

Lee Richard committed his 12th error of the season, which led the AL. Luis' successor was still having a rough go of it.
