Game 5, April 11 2009

Posted 04-16-2009 at 12:03 PM by Lundind1

Here is game 5. It was a nice rebound from the night before. Sox ended up pounding Liriano before pounding the Twins Bullpen. The younger players on this team really stepped up their game on this day. Hopefully we will see more of this as time goes on this season.

If you have any questions or comments, let me know. Thanks for checking out this work is progress.

I wrote in an earlier entry that my mind is swimming with the possiblities of what to write in this blog. My head is crammed full of 30 years worth of imagination that I never wrote down. I don't know why. Laziness, I guess. Plus a feeling that it wasn't good, or I should be doing other things and not whittling my life away with stupid daydreams. Still, I came up with a lot of stuff-I created my own baseball and football teams, along with a bevy of fictional baseball players that I placed on real...

I more or less use a set lineup for the games:

Rip Radcliff, LF
Mike Kreevich, CF
Dixie Walker, RF
Zeke Bonura, 1B
Luke Appling, SS
Jackie Hayes, 2B
Jimmie Dykes, 3B
Luke Sewell, C

My pitching rotation isn't exactly a bunch of worldbeaters. In order to keep track of the rotation, I am simply using the starters of the real games, as gleaned from retrosheet. So far it has been mostly John Whitehead and Monty Stratton, who was two...

More APBA

So far my APBA record with the 1936 White Sox is 6-4. The real-life 1936 squad was 4-6 at the same point, in the midst of an eight-game losing streak that would drop them to 4-9. Still, they would bounce back to finish at 81-70 and see the light of the first division for the first time since the 1920 doomed-by-scandal squad.

The games I have played are fun, despite the fact that they are cards and dice, not real games. Cards and dice don't take into account the human element-brushback...

Game 4, April 10 2009

Posted 04-14-2009 at 04:33 PM by Lundind1

Here is that disastrous affair on Friday night of last week. Since then, the Sox have gone on a 3 winning streak and the memories of that cold, bitterly cold night are now behind us.
