Games and Moments:
April 26, 1968
vs. Minnesota Twins
at Metropolitan Stadium

The Sox enter the game 0-10, the worst start in their history. This, coupled with losses in their last five games in 1967, made for a 15 game losing streak.

The Sox end their frustration on this day with a 3-2 win over the Twins. Tommie Davis belts his first home run of the year. Tommy John goes 5.2 innings for the win, Wilbur Wood goes the last two for the save.

Games and Moments
April 10, 1968
vs. Cleveland Indians
at White Sox Park

The White Sox give themselves a facelift over the winter in an effort to beef up the offense-Tommie Agee and Al Weis are sent to the Mets for Tommie Davis, Don Buford is swapped to the Orioles for Russ Snyder and south side favorite Luis Aparicio. The trades alter the complexion of the team, seemingly for the better. The Sox are a preseason pick of many prognosticators to win the AL pennant. ...

Games and Moments
September 29, 1967
vs. Washington Senators
at White Sox Park

This game, and one crucial play in particular, was the entire White Sox season in microcosm.

The team limped home in shock after the stunning doubleheader loss to the A's that Wednesday. The expected celebratory homecoming turned into a somber occasion. They took the field that night in front of 12,665 diehards needing to win all three against the Senators just to tie for the...

Games and Moments
September 27, 1967
vs. Kansas City A's
at Municipal Stadium, Kansas City

The 1967 White Sox were truly in the catbird's seat. Sure, they were in 2nd place, a game back at the close of play on the 24th, but they had just swept the Twins, who were also fighting for their pennant lives, and now headed to Kansas City to face the A's. KC was sitting at 60-95 and was playing out the string, not only for the season, but in their city. The team was preparing...

Games and Moments
September 24, 1967
vs. Cleveland Indians
at Cleveland Municipal Stadium

"All year long, the critics have discounted the guts of this team" manager Eddie Stanky said at one point during the great 1967 pennant chase. He was right. The team had bounced back from two seeming knockout punches-the stunning 7-3 loss to Detroit, then a three game losing streak that knocked them 3 games back with 16 left to play.

Next came a three game...
