In honor of actor Andy Garcia and his (unintentionally) hilarious reaction to Sofia (Mary Corleone) Coppola's death scene in "The Godfather, Part III."

I played Pursue the Pennant for a long time, but they went out of business and stopped making cards (although I think Dynasty League baseball continues PTP's ). I picked up a new SOM game a couple of years ago to go along with some of the old cards I had from the '85 season.
Yes they do, they have seasons up to last year.

One thing I don't like-they offer only full seasons, not indvidual teams. For instance, if I want to get the 1917 or 1983 Sox, I would have to blow 30 dollars to acquire every team in the set. I just couldn't order one team.

here's the link to their site:

Funny how I was just introduced to APBA last year by a baseball-loving ladyfriend of mine. I knew of "strat-o-matic" type baseball games for years, but never knew how readily availabale they were, until she sent me the link to the APBA website.

I have never tried the Shepherd link, but will. I also remember his show "Jean Shepherd's America." One show was set in Comiskey Park and he told a story of the Sox of that era. I remember a really funny line about Zeke Bonura in particular-"Zeke would stand at first base yelling 'let 'im hit it! Let 'im hit it!' Let hin hit it? Zeke couldn't field a grapefruit!"

Greatest White Sox team, Part II

Interesting! It bears repeating that the best teams are those that were the best equipped for that particular year and against that particular set of opposing teams. No doubt the 1917 team was a machine, but that same team playing in 2009 might not look as good against different competition.

It's a fun analysis and leads to great hot-stove speculation.

Yes I did, I will post them later. Right now I am at work and was taking too long to write my entry.
