In honor of actor Andy Garcia and his (unintentionally) hilarious reaction to Sofia (Mary Corleone) Coppola's death scene in "The Godfather, Part III."

29

The greatest number of runs scored by one team in a regular season game in the 20th century, accomplished twice.

On June 8, 1950, the Boston Red Sox set the record when they defeated the St. Louis Browns 29-4 at Fenway Park.

On April 23, 1955 the White Sox equaled the record when they slammed the Kansas City A's by a 29-6 score at Municipal Stadium, Kansas City.

Sherm Lollar, Walt Dropo

The two players who played in both games. On 6/8/50 Lollar caught for the Browns and went 1-for-3. Dropo, playing 1st base for Boston, homered twice in going 4-for-6 with 7 RBIs.

On 4/23/55 Lollar had a bit more fun. Catching for the winning side this time, he went 5-for-6 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI. Dropo played 1st for the White Sox and went 3-for-7 with 1 home run and 3 RBI.

Harry Dorish

White Sox pitcher who pitched the final two innings of the 29-6 win (in relief of starter and winner Jack Harshman); he was also present for the 29-4 game in 1950 as a member of the Browns. He didn't play that day, however he was the starter and loser for the Browns the day before, when Boston walloped St. Louis 20-4.

Bobby Shantz

Starter and loser for Kansas City in the 29-6 loss. Shantz went 1.2 innings, giving up 9 runs on 7 hits.

19

Number of innings that the White Sox proceeded to go scoreless after their 29-6 drubbing of the A's. After failing to score in the 9th on 4/23, they went down to back-to-back 5-0 defeats to the A's the day after and to the Yankees on 4/26. Alex Kellner of the A's and Bob Turley of the Yankees both recorded complete game shutouts.

2007 Texas Rangers

Team that finally broke the long-standing single game scoring record. In the first game of an August 22 doubleheader, they drubbed the Baltimore Orioles by the final of 30-3.
