Sudden Sam 1-hits Super Sox; 1969 Indians prevail

7th inning homer by Thomas only Sox hit in loss

Indians 3, White Sox 1

W 5 L 2

Frank Thomas broke up 1969 Indian Sam McDowell's bid for a no-hitter in the 7th inning with a long bomb into the left field seats. It would be the only hit they would muster in the game, however. The Indians scored all their runs in the first when Tony Horton smacked a two-run double off starter and loser Tommy John, then proceeded home on a single by Russ Snyder, who was gunned down by a spectacular Belle-to-Aparicio throw when he tried to stretch the hit into a double.
