In honor of actor Andy Garcia and his (unintentionally) hilarious reaction to Sofia (Mary Corleone) Coppola's death scene in "The Godfather, Part III."

And now I will post a story from the history of the New Orleans Knights baseball team. They came into existence in 1892, when the National League expanded to 12 teams. They were in the NL for many years but could never win very many pennants. Their last one was in 1958, when a confluence of events occurred-all the Knights' old men and youngsters got it together and produced a season like no other-winning streaks of 18 and 17 games helped to produce a record of 110-44. They went to the World Series and had a 3-1 lead on the Yankees before falling apart and losing the next three to hand the championship to the Yanks.

They went 30 years without a title after that, but were in a battle for first place with the LA Dodgers through most of 1988. This brought to mind memories of several past close calls, most notably 1982.
