If he clears waivers, the Sox can take him back.

I'm confused at how this works, though. Does he need to be on the major league squad, or just the 40-man?

Has to be on the 25-man.

We have to keep him on the 25-Man to keep him if he returns? I thought we could just put him back in AA or where ever.

Pass on that then, although I would rather see him than MacDougal.

There was also a mention that if the Sox were looking to take him back (seems unlikely), the A's would make some kind of offer in order to keep him. He apparently wasn't DFA'd because they didn't like him, but just because he's not a good fit right now.

My bad, I thought you meant for the next team to pick him up via waivers, if that were to happen. If he clears waivers, we do not need to put him on the 40 or 25 man.
