Leave the fighting for hockey. Enough said.

Neither. Baseball is about hitting and pitching, not a bar-room brawl.

The only part that I took enjoyment out of was Michael Barrett being taken down by Podsednik in an armbar; one of the most basic holds you can get.

Barrett by the way is into martial arts, and last I checked, Pods was not.

the answer is always Pirates vs Ninjas.

Anyone who disagrees has clearly not payed attention to the statistics...

The Sox-Tigers one of 2000 was epic because it wandered all over the field in different stages, and it broke out more than once during the game. That game was weird.

The Sox-Tigers fight was the spark that set the Sox on fire for the 2000 season - it was pretty epic. While the Sox-Cubs fight got more press, it was really only a Barrett sucker punch and some scuffling.

I don't know how anyone could say otherwise. This one is a no brainer. Sox-Cubs was nothing and really only involved four or five players really delivering blows. Sox-Tigers involved almost everyone on both teams.

I don't remember everything about the Sox/Tiger fight, and I was at the Cubs/Sox one, so you can only guess which one I'm gonna choose.

Ditto. This really isn't a discussion. The Tigers-Sox was an absolute BRAWL.

Silly, silly, silly.

If you say the Sox/Cubs (Barrett sucker punch) over the '00 Sox/Tigers, then I have to wonder if you were watching.

The '00 Sox/Tigers was nearly a full team fight and it went on and on. I'll never forget the Robert Fick (antagonizing Sox fans) going into the Tiger BP and seeing a Sox fan spit a hocker at him.

And as was mentioned the '00 fight seemed to unify the team and galvanized them for their run to the playoffs. Too bad their starting pitchers were gassed in the post-season and the bats went limp.

Since were discussing fights, here's some of the best according to ESPN:

The 2000 fight made #6.

Chris Osgood of the Red Wings was impressed. "It was a pretty vicious fight for a baseball game," he said. "But they stood up for themselves pretty good. It's a good way to build camaraderie."

Awesome. I'm gonna go with Sox/Tigers.

Ron Artest versus the city of Detroit.

That was perhaps one of the saddest days in NBA history as it exemplified one of the worst examples for kids of what sportsmanship is not. Looked more like a basketball version of UFA.

Sox-Tigers and its not even close.

Hawk said it best during that game: 'Here we go again!'

Not even close. That game had lingering feelings before the brawls. Listening to the players and coaches jawing at each other before and during that game was something.

And the multiple brawls.....

And the mass suspensions....

That was an ugly, ugly episode in Y2K....

And it was the better one by far.

There must be two parties involved for it to be constituted a fight. That was more of a beating than a fight per se.

The AJ/Barrett thing was a minor spat compared to what transpired at Comiskey Park in 2000 vs. the Tigers. I should know, I was actually in the stands for that game. Those two teams were absolutely beating the hell out of each other in two separate bench clearers during the game. The game featured in no particular order:

1) A purpose pitch from Jeff Weaver
2) A purpose pitch from Bob Howry and Jim Parque
3) A batting helmet thrown at a pitcher (Palmer at Parque)
4) Robert Fick flipping the bird off to the White Sox faithful before receiving a beer and peanut shower in the visitor bullpen
5) Magglio Ordonez the karate master kicking a Tigers player in the stomach
6) Keith Foulke's bloodied face looking like Ric Flair after duking it out with Dusty Rhodes in steel cage
7) Jeff Weaver RETURNING to the field of play to fight again in a grey t-shirt after being ejected from the FIRST fight (I have never seen this before in any sport and probably never will again...)
8) Bill Simas wildly throwing haymakers at anyone wearing a Tigers jersey
9) Bullpens emptying from both teams, TWICE.
10) Jerry Manuel getting ejected from the game and suspended for doing nothing more than trying to play peacemaker
11) A pumped up Foulke You in the stands enjoying a memorable White Sox Winner! :D:

Trust me people, this was one of the best fights in MLB history, not just White Sox history. The AJ/Barrett thing was big because it was the crosstown series but as others have said, it doesn't belong in the same discussion with the Sox/Tigers brawl in '00.

I think I had baseball practice the day of the fight, but after watching it on Youtube, that was definitely the better fight. Sox fans borrowing the "De-troit sucks" chant clinched it for me.

That's still a popular fallacy. After the fight, they stumbled and played .500 for a while, partly due to losing key players to suspensions. That season was made in June when they went 20-8, and specifically when they swept Cleveland and New York on a 7 game road trip.

Anyway,

I was at the Cubs vs. Sox fight. I was right behind the Sox's bullpen and remember those guys hopping the fence to run out there. It was fantastic. But the White Sox vs. Tigers brawl was absolutely epic. It went on forever and was scattered all of the field. The Cubs vs. Sox fight was really only about AJ and Barrett.
