View Full Version : Uribe showing "bunt" more often

I've noticed that so far in this young season, when a runner is on base (which is happening more often this year than last), Uribe frequently is showing bunt with less than two strikes.

Whether this is being called from the dugout or he's doing it on his own or with Walker's coaching, I like it. He seems to get into favorable hitters counts and/or draws a walk with this approach.

Obviously the scouting report on Uribe is that he will swing away at anything, but he has good power, so there's no reason for opposing pitchers to throw him a decent fastball. Now he's not flailing away at as many garbage pitches, and he's getting into more favorable hitters counts, seeing more pitches, and getting on base more often.

Kudos to whoever came up with this idea!

Good observation. I love it when the bottom of the order gets on base. I hope it keeps up, I'm loving his defense at 2B.
