The article says that the Southwest line will eventually shift to the Rock Island tracks. That would be nice, even though I don't like the idea of the Southwest line leaving Union Station.

New line to Cubs fans for next year: "Not only do we have an L station named after our team, but Metra stops there now too! Think Metra can add a station at Wrigleyville?"

Yes, because municipal improvements and transportation options trump drunken fun in the sun every time...

David Baker, IITís vice president for external relations, said the college is working to lure the likes of Starbucks, Jimmy Johnís, a restaurant and a sports bar to the area near the station.

Did he forget that there is a Starbucks at 35th and State?

Wow. It sounds like the area has really changed for the better since I was at IIT from 1992-1993. Good stuff.

And for parents who live in the Southwest 'burbs and are looking for a great high school for their kids, may I remind you that there is one - cough (De La Salle) cough - just two blocks east of the proposed Metra station on 35th.

In the interest of maintaining employment, thank you for the plug.

Great. Living in Joliet and driving to the game wasnt so much of a problem then leaving at games end. I parked near the IIT Campus and walked to the park. Going home was a trffic nightmare at times getting back on 55 to go back home. This way I can just let Metra do the driving...

I'd have to go w/ Brother Rice on 99th Street, but that's just me.

The construction site this summer will be a welcome sight to Sox fans such as Jeff Wszolek. The Mokena man and former season ticketholder said heís tired of spending as much as $20 to park for games.
ďThatís money that can be spent on beer,Ē Wszolek said

:gulp:indeed.

Wish the South Shore could figure out a stop at 35th

It's a hike - you'd need a shuttle.

This is great news. Let's hope it doesn't take as long to finish this station as it has taken to complete the 99th street rock island station (3 years and counting)

This is great for my girlfriend, who's a huge Sox fan and uses the RI line. Me, however just uses the Milwaukee District West line (Union Station to Elgin/Big Timber) and then just walk to the Red Line to 35th.

Excellent news! This may really help bring more people to the park on weeknights who otherwise don't want to deal with the traffic headaches getting to the Cell.

There's a Jimmy John's being set up there too, looks like he doesn't know what's going on or his people are really productive
