just some stats i decided to look up and compile. i think they speak for themselves but i defiantly hope we can keep it up :bandance::bandance:

April 6th, 2008
ChiSox
6 games, 208 ABs
1st in AL: Runs-38 (2nd blue jays 31)
1st in ALC, 3rd in AL: Hits-56 (1st angels 75 2nd red sox 60)
1st in AL: Doubles-16 (2nd angels 14)
1st in AL: Home Runs-10 (2nd tied red sox, rangers 8)
1st in AL: RBIs-38 (2nd blue jays 31)
1st in ALC, 2nd in AL: TBs-104 (1st angels 112)
1st in AL: Walks-32 (2nd A's 25)
1st in AL: OBP-.370 (2nd O's .351)
1st in AL: SLG-.500 (2nd angels .450)
1st in ALC 3rd in AL: AVG-.269 (2nd O's .272, 1st angels .301)

Overall im very satisfied with what we have done so far, if we keep this up i have no doubt we can at least make the wild card but its a long season and the supposed great teams that are choking now probably wont choke for much longer (cant really say)....choking teams: RedSox, Yankees, Detoilet (lol), seattle. :bandance::bandance::dtroll::bandance::bandance:

Dude, it's April 6th. If these stats are the same on JUNE 6th, then you might have something. But for now, it means nothing essentially. It's like fretting that we're behind KC at this point. You think that will hold up all season long?

It's only the first week of the season, yes. But there is nothing wrong with being happy about these numbers. You never want to get to high or too low, however. It's a long season.

Still, it's nice to see how things like Swisher leading off and Linebrink are working out - so far.

It is never too early to start winning and playing well, this much is true.

But you should always use caution the first month of the season. Last April, we had someone here start an infamous thread asking whether the 2007 Sox bullpen was "the greatest ever."

It is very dangerous to draw grand conclusions - positively or negatively - this early in the season.

1st in AL: OBP-.370 (2nd O's .351)

Stats that please me the most.

I don't care if it's only been 6 games. This could be a very good sign of things to come. Lineup looks ridiculously strong.

It's okay to be happy about a good start in the first week of the season.

But it is a marathon, not a sprint. I like what I see. Keep it rolling, keep winning games, White Sox!

You have a problem with the way things are run here? There's plenty of other Sox sites on the Internet.

I think a really good thing about the stats above is that those high rankings are all with Konerko, Thome, Cabrera, and to an extent Swisher not even hitting well.

It's the first week of the season.

Startin' to feel the heat? Maybe KW and Ozzie know what they're doing and this Sox team is good, eh?

No complaints when you open a day in 1st place.

It's never too early to draw conclusions. Many at WSI handed the 2008 World Series title to the Tigers on December 5, 2007.

Unfortunately in the most important stat - home attendance (at least according to Cubs fans) at this moment we are dead last while the Cubs are way ahead of us.

I know it's VERY early....but as of today, the White Sox lead the American League in OBP (2nd in all of MLB)..with .370....despite the slow starts of Cabrera, Thome, Konerko and Uribe.

Last year we were dead last in all of MLB.

I'm even more pleased that the Sox seem to be doing a good job of driving in runs when runners get on base. It seems that last year, it would take four hits to score a run if a HR wasn't involved. This year, they are taking the extra base and hitting lots of extra-base hits and HRs with runners on base.

This bodes well for the rest of the season, as hitting is contagious, as are slumps. Remember last year when the offense was abysmal? This is much better.

not to nitpick, but I'd hardly say Uribe is starting slow. he's par for the course. .688 OPS this year is right around his OPS for the last two years.

this will be a hell of a season if the team obp is 370, especially when looked at in comparison to corpseball or whatever the nickname for the offense was last year.

I'm happy as anyone with the first week of play. However, let's not get too carried away just yet. Remember, this early in the season, all it takes is one or two games to inflate stats. Let's hope they keep it up.

If a .200 AVG and 1 (or 2, whatever) walk(s) is par for the course for Uribe, why in God's name is he the starting 2B, his "laser" arm (coming from 2B, mind you) notwithstanding?

Anyway, it definitely is too early to start printing playoff tickets (especially with BA not for sure in CF and Uribe still on the field), but the fan in me is no doubt happy with the production so far. Hey how about Danks pitching that gem? Where is that thread?

I'm starting to be alright with the idea of BA as a defensive replacement and once or twice a week guy.

Quentin has stepped it up, and Swisher is looking fine in CF, why mess with what's working?

You just have to hope that Ozzie doesn't put Owens above BA, that would just be ridiculous because right now we have a system where we have the best offense we can in CF from innings 1-8, then the best defense we can in the 8-9. Owens offers none of that, he offers... raw speed. Meh. I like what we got.
