I've been a life-long Sox fan that grew up on the North Side. Nobody I know remembers these commercials, and I'm looking for some vindication before I get too old and can't remember.

-Pat Kelly, Bill Melton, Wilbur Wood showering and taking turns singing "Switch on there goes another Chevy". Camera pulls back and Chuck Tanner steps in front of the camera to obscure the showerers.

- Eddie Leon for Carta Blanca Beer

- Wilbur Wood with "Pete" a little kid who said he was Chevy's "Shmallest" salesman

- Holy Cow the Falstaff Cow who would talk to Harry out on the field until they figured out that the male cow didn't quite make sense

As I remember the 1972 Chevy commercial, the camera pulled back to show the players wearing sweat pants and breaking into laughter.

Chuck, Dick Allen and Wilbur 'Switchin' On' with Chevy in 1973.

And Harry in 1977 with his live commercials on radio for Falstaff and the Hot Line number. "Falstaff... America's Premium Quality Beer!"

How about Ron Kittle? "A ball you cross-eyed old goat."

And those guys had the worst singing voices EVER!

Wasn't there a Gillette razor commercial with Billy Pierce that we had a link to on WSI just last year?

I remember one with Ozzie and Ron Kittle from 1986 with Ozzie talking in Spanish and at the end he tosses away a firecracker and Kittle shouts "Hey wait a minute"!, with Hawk Harrelson saying at the end "The Hawks wants you!" I remember the 1987 TV promo was something like "Get ready for the White Sox". 1990 I remember it was "Years from now you'll say you were there".:gulp:

Billy wasn't a real private guy. He allowed the fans to see him shower (http://www.tias.com/3943/PictPage/1920819237.html), shave (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJRwL2N0EBY), and smoke (http://www.archive.org/details/tobacco_ule13d00b).

Here's another one recently posted by Fuzzy Memories; this one is for the Sprite Magic Baseball contest (those of you who don't like Ribbie and Roobarb may want to skip this):

Is that a much more subdued Ken Harrelson reading the copy on that commercial?

My baby brother won the sprite magic baseball contest back then, and our family got to watch a game in the gold box seats. It was a fun day for him, getting to be the celebrity. Besides getting the treat of seeing off duty Chicago cops moonlighting as Sox security beat up an over served fan (Yikes!), Jerry Hairston won the game for us (vs Tigers?) with a pinch hit home run. Very exciting! Thanks for bringing back the memories.

I remember a God awful car commercial with reliver bob james back in the mid 80's. He looked like he just got out of bed before he shot it. His hair was all bedhead on one side. And it was so obvious he was reading off cards. It was BAD.

I remember a buddy of mine yelling at him "nice commercial what, too busy to run a comb through your hair?" We got the dirtiest look ever. I thought he was gonna tear through the patio area screening in LF to get at us. All the time Ivan Calderon was laughing his butt off.

if you do a youtube search for "White Sox" you'll see several. I saw one from 1983-Soxfest! Baseball's Best! :gulp:

Tom Pachiorek's 1982 "Bat Day" promo, where he wore a cape with his uniform and did a Bela Lugosi impression where he urged fans to "Come out and watch us put the bite on Earl Weaver and the Baltimore Orioles."

Another one I liked but haven't seen in a while was the one for Manny's Big and Tall with Robin Ventura and Barry Jones.

Does anyone feel for Pudge Fisk and Andre Dawson having to do that "Just for Men" radio spot? Come on, these are Hall of Famers gang, and they have to do that kind of read?

"Oh, how the mighty have fallen."
